Play Week

This was the play called Fearless.
Dulcie, Aidan, Sean, Dylan, Caitlin, Claudia and Max - this play was about a couple who weren't scared of anything except for a mouse!

The Three Little Pigs : Charlie, Emily, Alvin, Benjamin, Sophie and Hiroshi.
The three little pigs were saved by a brick house!

The Best Fruit Shop in Town: Charlie, Alona, Zac and Maya
The shopkeeper had to deal with some very demanding customers and she sorted them all out so they were all happy!

The Clean House: Grace, Charlotte, Terrence, Luca and Sophie.
Terrence was getting worried as his uncle was visiting and his pets were being very messy!

We really enjoyed doing the plays in front of an audience (Room 9 and Room 4) It was a bit scary and we felt proud when they all clapped.

Chopsticks

Every week we do Chinese. We do all sorts of fun activities.
This time we learnt to count in Chinese, while picking up peanuts with chopsticks.
Sean was very good at picking up the peanuts with chopsticks. While Emily got the hang of it.
Sean picked up 27 nuts and Emily picked up 21 nuts.

Chopsticks

The Chinese teacher taught us how to use chopsticks and Maya counted for me.
Then we changed, but Maya couldn't do it, because she's never done it before. She thought she couldn't do it, but she could do it!

Chopsticks

We learnt to hold chopsticks. Grace couldn't really hold the chopsticks right.
Claudia was better than Grace. Then Grace got better.

Chinese Chopsticks

We have Chinese every Thursday and it is very fun.
In this picture Luca is counting how many peanuts I am picking up with chopsticks.
I picked up 60 peanuts!
It's a little bit hard to pick the peanuts.
For Chinese we do stuff that's really fun.

The Chopstick Talent

Last term the whole entire class tried to pick up lots of peanuts using chopsticks.
We heard "Click, click, click."
I saw excited faces and I was happy and it was easy peasy!

The Dancing Chopsticks

Last term we did a chopstick game, we tried to use chopsticks to get the peanuts.
Our Chinese teacher taught us how to use them.
We heard "Click, click, chat, chat, chat."
We saw grinning faces. I felt happy but it was babyish for me!

 Dragon Boats.
Every Thursday we have Chinese and one day we made paper boats. I did it with Terrence. First we got the paper and folded it in quarters. Next we unfolded it, then we made a triangle. Then we folded the bottom of the triangle. Finally we finished our boats and had our photo taken.
By Sophie and Terrence

When our Chinese teacher Guan Laoshi came to school one day,  she told us how to make boats out of paper. This is a picture of me, Grace, Sophie, Charlie and Terrence. For me it was really hard. I needed a lot of help.

Zac and Sophie are talking with the microphones. Alvin and the rest of the class are getting ready to show their pictures of the penguins.
Then the fire alarm went off! Alvin was feeling really shocked and surprised. Finally the alarm stopped and we finished our Junior Assembly.

The Year 5 children are completing an Inquiry unit about changing the animals in the forest.
Using a cool tool called Padlet (it's like an online brainstorming session)
Room 10 worked with their Room 4 buddies and brainstormed what they would like to see replace the animals in the forest.
Here are some of their ideas - as dictated to their buddies.

A Visit From Constable Gordon

As the final part of our Safe Walking Health unit, Constable Gordon came to school with mini police uniforms.
Team 10 loved dressing up and pretending to be police officers for the morning and learning a little bit about Constable Gordon's job too!
You might see some of Team 10 on patrol, in 15 or so years time!
